Hey,
It’s Sam from Sleeknote
Welcome to the first edition of Onsite Made Simple, a weekly newsletter where we share one onsite marketing strategy from a top ecommerce brand (and how you can do the same).
Let’s get into today’s issue.
The Tactic: How to Get More People to Join Your Rewards Program
J.Crew is an American multi-brand, multi-channel, specialty retailer.
If you visit its US store, you see a website where J. Crew offers a 15% discount if you join J.Crew Passport, its customer loyalty program.
After clicking “Sign Up,” J.Crew shows a second step where it asks for:
Your name;
A password;
Your country; and
Your mobile number
J. Crew also reminds you of the benefits of joining its loyalty program, including:
Free shipping on every order
Points earned for each dollar spent; and
Special perks like early access, double points, and more.
After clicking “Sign Up,” J. Crew invites you to shop, linking to several category pages on its website.
The perfect three-step popup.
Why It Works
Promoting a customer loyalty program is a proven way to drive more signups for three reasons:
If you collect the visitor's mobile in addition to their email, you open a new marketing channel should you wish to explore SMS marketing
You pique the visitor's interest at an opportune time (before they’re about to buy). After all, who wouldn’t want an extra discount before checking out?
You can “retarget” anyone who doesn’t join on the checkout confirmation page, thereby ensuring two chances to convert customers into program users.
That’s it!
Let me know if you have any questions.
