Eva Dixon & Deborah Lerner |
We are pleased to present two new bodies of work by Eva Dixon and Deborah Lerner, shown by London-based gallery Particular Ideas. |
In collaboration with Minor Attractions, we welcomed Eva Dixon and Deborah Lerner to our founder’s home to shoot a gripping discussion on their obsessions, probing the ideas, images and cultural fixations that repeatedly surface in their work.
To accompany the episode, Dixon and Lerner share two new series shaped by sustained and penetrative acts of looking, collecting, and assembling. |

Eva Dixon in her studio |
Eva Dixon’s practice is driven by a seductive engagement with labour, utility and material culture. The artist explores homo-eroticism in sport and porn, the space race, lesbianism, and industry, working across painting, sculpture, and assemblage.
Eva repurposes military textiles, rip-stop nylon, emergency blankets, industrial hardware and discarded functional materials, treating the studio as a site of physical experimentation where making and fictioning is led by the demands of the work itself. |
DEBORAH LERNER |
Deborah Lerner’s paintings explore the material possibilities of paint and the history of the medium as a way of approaching broader questions about human experience.
Taking inspiration from Jack Whitten’s notion of using "form as a means to arrive at subject", Lerner allows surface, edge, colour and composition to generate meaning rather than illustrate it. |
