We are delighted to welcome Richard Cook to Rise Art. Living and working in Newlyn, Cornwall, Cook paints landscapes that exist somewhere between observation and recollection. Built through vigorous brushwork and richly textured surfaces, his paintings register shifting weather, fleeting light and the emotional residue of place. |

Cook has exhibited widely throughout the UK, including presentations at Tate St Ives, the Royal Academy, the British Museum and the Hayward Gallery. His work is held in major public and corporate collections, among them Tate, Arts Council England and Deutsche Bank, and he has been recognised with awards from both the British Council and Arts Council England. |

The landscape is one of art history's most enduring subjects, and a site of continual artistic renewal and reinvention. This week's edit charts the many ways in which artists digest the landscape; from picturesque vistas to angular near-abstractions. |
