Hi friends,
Have you ever come across something so interesting, you can't focus on anything else? You're completely consumed by this thing.
You read everything you can, watch all of the videos, and your *real* work gets pushed to the last minute?
That's exactly what happened when I found Mario Gabriele's work in November of 2022.
This seemingly random guy was making more than $300k a year...by himself....from a NEWSLETTER of all things?!
Did I mention he was making that much in his first year?!
I couldn't stop thinking about it. I did a few Google searches to find out how he did this.
But there was a problem...
There wasn't a single place that had the full story.
There were interviews here and there, some blog posts, and of course Mario's newsletter itself...but that was it. Nothing comprehensive.
So, I got to work.
I spent an entire week ignoring my real work, researching how he did it.
I went deep down the rabbit hole:
Every interview.
Every video.
Every tweet.
Every newsletter he wrote.
I had spent a solid 40 hours of work on this research.
Honestly, this poor guy would probably be so creeped out if he knew how much I was researching him. 🤦🏻♀️ Sorry Mario!
After doing mountains of research and finding some interesting insights, I thought...I bet someone else would be interested in everything I've found so far.
So I polished my research up into something other people could understand.
I hit publish.
And that's how this newsletter was born.
That first issue went out to 4 people.
Now, there are over 27k of you here.
All from a rabbit hole I let myself go down. Cool huh?
If you missed that first deep dive, you can read it here.
But there's something more fun.
As of this month, Growth In Reverse is now my full-time job.
Previously, I had been helping clients run Facebook and Google ads since I left my day job in 2017.
But, I didn't enjoy it anymore. It wasn't "my thing."
Growth In Reverse is my thing. It's THE MOST FUN I've ever had "working."
And now I get to focus on it full-time.
Woohoo!
But I want to do this right so I can keep building this newsletter and community for you for a long time.
In the past 7 years of working for myself, I have never taken off the last week of the year.
This year, I'm attempting to do that.
Instead of trying to crank out deep dives during the holiday week, I'm stepping back to rest and plan out what 2024 looks like.
And it's looking amazing already. 🤓
I'll be back in your inbox in January. Enjoy the rest of your holiday season, and have a happy new year!

PS - Thanks to everyone who has supported this journey from the early days or shared this with a friend. I wouldn't be here without all of you.
PPS - I occasionally send out gifts to people who have been on the email list for a while and read it regularly. Last week was one of those weeks. Thanks again to everyone who replied to that bonus email :)
PPPS - If you were hoping for a deep dive this week, here's a link to the archive - you can go back and choose one you haven't read before.
