Hello!

Fun day, today. I’m launching my first ever month-long workshop here on Substack! Thank you for subscribing: you’re the first people to receive these details, and you also have a 5-hour jump on tickets to the first panel.

TICKETS ARE HERE

Read the rest of this post before making your purchase, as there are many ways to join.

Recipe Development for the Digital Age (RDDA?? Should have considered initials sooner!) is a 4-week course broken into 4 themes. It’s designed to feel like being in a test kitchen surrounded by other cooks, we’ll be joined by a bunch of amazing experts and speakers all through March. Because it’s a leap year, we’re going to make the most of every day in February, and our first panel is 2/29 (this Thursday!). After that, all panels will take place on Mondays.

The goal is to give you the tools, confidence, and inspiration to develop your own publication-ready recipes. By the end of the course, you’ll know how to create, write, test, troubleshoot, and promote your own original dishes. I’ll also publish at least one original recipe that is created during the course.

Each week will kick off with a live (online) panel where I’ll be joined by one or more creators or experts to discuss key ideas and take your questions. Other Substack creators joining me are: Chuck Cruz Ali Slagle Rachel Karten !

I want in!

After the event, you’ll have the opportunity to huddle up here with other workshoppers and continue exploring and evolving your work through daily prompts and inspiration, simple assignments to get your own development underway, and community chats where you can get support and feedback from the larger community.

Every Friday I’ll host a 2-hour AMA to field any questions that came up during the week, review your recipe images, coach you through sticking points, and basically just be there for you.

The best and most cost-effective way to take part is to subscribe at the Super Workshopper tier. That gets you into all 4 panels and unlocks the full breadth of offerings for community engagement.

  • If you are already a Founding Member, you are now a Super Workshopper, and you don’t have to do anything! You’ve got it all.

  • If you’re a monthly or annual subscriber, you can either upgrade your membership, or you can keep it as is and buy individual tickets for the panels that interest you.

  • If you’re a paying monthly or annual subscriber and the panels aren’t your thing, you’ll still be able to read posts and participate in all the community threads.

The panels will be on Zoom, and the tickets are available on Eventbrite.

Working alongside other cooks every day was the richest learning environment of my career. I miss those times! It’s hard to find inspiration and guidance on your own. I want to spark that camaraderie here, and help other cooks find their recipe style and their audience.

Please let me know if you have questions! I’m here and I can’t wait for this!

One pound of (non-organic) butter is $5. Same as a month’s worth of Food Processing. If you already have butter in the fridge, consider upgrading to paid!
